There’s a lot going on inside Oura. The moment you connect your new Ring to the Oura App, you’re bombarded with terms like “heart rate variability” and “respiratory rate” — concepts that require a basic understanding of key vital signals. Add on Oura-specific terms like “Readiness Score” or “Recovery,” and there’s no denying it — our first-time user experience is intimidating.

To address some of these concerns, the creative team and I partnered with the Product and Science teams to create a series of introductory animated videos. Each video aimed to gently onboard new users by giving an overview of the app and how they should interpret the feedback they receive.
